What is listening therapy

Any other recommendations on CE classes that you have felt to be beneficial? There are pros and cons to both but, overall, I see more potential and benefit with iLs.

There is currently limited evidence behind both programs, however, there was a pilot study published on iLs in the fall of in AJOT with positive results. We used TL for two years and are returning after a break. The results have been amazing. Now, she speaks on level, can follow a sequence of oral directions and rarely needs pictures or noise-blocking headphones. It also helped with sleep, self-regulation and general functioning.

It has been a miracle for her. A warning though- all problems worsened for the first two weeks and for a few days every time she moved to another level with the program. Still, the progress has been worth every single difficult moment! Can you recommend what CD player is suitable for therapeutic listening? I keep seeing different information on every product regarding anti-skip, bass, etc. Some reviews say anti-skip lowers the sound quality, but otherwise it would be skipping all over with an active kid.

What to do? Therapeutic Listening is a comprehensive, multi-faceted sound-based approach that involves much more than just the ears. Like other sensory systems, the auditory system does not work in isolation. Neurologically it is connected to all levels of brain function and as a result it has a vast range of influence. How we listen impacts not only our overall physiology, but also our behavior.

Therapeutic Listening is a specific sound-based intervention that is embedded in a developmental and sensory integration perspective. The music in Therapeutic Listening gives the listener unique and precisely controlled sensory information.

The music is electronically modified to highlight the parts of the sound spectrum that naturally capture attention and activate body movement, synchronizing it with the environment.

Therapeutic Listening uses electronic modifications, along with the organized, rhythmical sound patterns inherent in music, to trigger the self-organizing capacities of the nervous system. Many therapists currently trained in Therapeutic Listening find it an important addition to their Sensory Integration treatment modalities that can increase the intensity and shorten the duration of treatment.

Therapeutic Listening is not a listening therapy approach that consists of one program that must be followed in a certain order.
